A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing punk rock wedding tablescape by the fabulous Karin Woodward. From the corseted table cloths and t-shirts, to safety pink details, black martini glasses with skulls, and studded belt napkin holders, Karin completely rocked this tablescape! Too bad I didn’t know Karin when Ray and I were married because we would have loved to have had this at our wedding. Sometimes you just need an antidote to stale and boring wedding decor, and this is the perfect antidote to that.

Part II of Maggie and James’ gorgeous outdoor wedding. The bride did all of the floral arrangements and designed the invitations and guest book herself. The groom made his own handcrafted beers, how awesome is that. Finger puppet favors rule!

Maggie and James had a gorgeous outdoor, rustic DIY wedding at the home of a family friend. The garden and grounds themselves were so unique and different. Maggie did all of the floral arrangements herself, and was inspired by her Dutch heritage and used delft (blue and white porcelain), copper, and blue glass pieces she found in local thrift stores. She designed her invitations, sign-in book, and even made her own cake stands. Maggie looked like a woodland nymph in her Chrissy Wai Ching wedding dress, and simple flowers in her hair. Instead of a ready-made bouquet, as Maggie walked down the aisle, guests presented her with irises so that she ended up with a bouquet when she got to the end of the aisle.
The reception itself was incredibly fun and relaxed, just like Maggie and James. The wedding favors were finger puppets, and the guests had so much fun with them! I’ll share the DIY details tomorrow. :)

Lissa and Curtis met while they were students at UC Berkeley, and you might remember them from their UC Berkeley engagement session earlier this year. They’re one of our most creative and fun couples and were married at the beautiful Brazilian Room inside Tilden Park in Berkeley. They had a fantastic “Sumo vs. Godzilla” wedding theme with the most amazing details like sumo wrestler and godzilla ties, cake toppers, cuff links, and a super fun themed photobooth.

When I first met Remy and Neal, we instantly clicked. They have the best vibe and great energy — so positive, hip, cool, and all around super nice people. You can’t be any cooler than owning your own clothing company either!
This year the most popular and luckiest day to get married was 08.08.08, and Remy and Neal liked to refer to their wedding as The Real 08.08.08. They even had a huge wood sign with those words branded on it. Following the beautiful ceremony at the San Jose Basilica, I took Remy and Neal over to the San Jose Museum of Art for a few quick portraits.
Then we were off to the San Jose City Hall Rotunda for the amazing, American Gothic styled reception, complete with checkered red and white table clothes, gorgeous sunflower arrangements, and little seedling favors — everything was completely fresh and different, just like Remy and Neal.
